So I'm returfing and I'm using 25mm underpad and I'd like to mount a footstrap how do you guys mount them so there is still enough room to get your foot in
I may run into the same issue on my freak since I have the 26mm plush on the bottom.
I have the inserts that I will glass in. They came will stainless screw but I know I wll have to use taller screws so that I have room to get my foot in.
That's my plan anyways....To use more stout hardware and maybe use some type of spacer system to raise the strap a little if I need to...
I'll post some pics of what I come up with on my SF build...that's my general direction anyways
i sanded the underpad down where my straps were being installed. but at a slope downward from heal to toe. that way you stay in a good riding position, slightly forward leaning... and still have a thick pad under your heal.
This method has worked for me.lt compensates the thick padding and still is secure.Get longer screws and use 2-3 nuts for spacers between strap and hull.Leave enough threads on the end to secure and go through the hull and enough to tighten down at the top of the strap. Loctite the crap out of the nuts.Used this on three different skis with no problems.
