how to cut a flywheel cover

any of you guys have a pic of a flywheel cover that's been cut to set up timing? I've never cut one and don't know how much to remove to get the job done right. i'm thread searching as I type...

ive seen photos of the actuall tool to hold the bendix in place and leave the rest open.

I would assume that you just need to cut a big enough 'window' to be able to see 30 degrees of rotation or so.

and since its a rarely used thing it should be fine as far as strength.

cut that puppy up.

ok, just cut the left side off, you just need enough material to be able to bolt it on and hold the bendix in place, figure 1 bolt past the bendix..........

why?

To have a cheap bendix holder, to time the engine, for example.

Just cut the cover so that only the bendix portion, with three bolt holes is left.

thanks guys...always good responses no matter the subject. the poster may get their a$$ reamed for being repetitive or not searching:spankme:, but the humor is always first rate around here. i'm going to install my TL setup soon and been doing some discussion with Mcdog and trying to learn the "ways of the Jedi" for doing my own timing. Every day is an adventure with my first standup ski. i'm learning volumes as i have some success and plenty of failure.
