Surfriding How much play in throttle lever????

I like zero play in my throttle lever but Ive been noticing the rpms will go up alittle when I turn my bars. I thought if I shortened my pole for added cable slack it would fix the problem but it didn't. Is there suppose to be some play in the throttle lever? I then loosened the cable attached to the lever and the problem was fixed but I really didnt like it as much as when it was tight?
Anyone know how its suppose to be set up?
Am I missing something, could it be another issue?

turn the bars whatever direction its pulling, then set that spot up with zero free play. should be about 1-2mm play everywhere else.

rule of thumb is a nickle width of play between the perch and the lever.

^ yep, used to keep a nickel in the top drawer of my box when I was working at the dealer. Eventually you'll be able to glance at your freeplay and tell if it's right or not.
