Woke up this morning, and watched How it's Made on the discovery channel.

They were at the seadoo factory, making an xp.

Although not a stand-up, it was still cool to watch:biggthumpup:

I have been to the Mastercraft and cobalt boat plants and seen their assembly line process now that was interesting.

I saw that as well. You beat me to it  Very interesting for sure. Those robots right there are by Fanuc. I just got finished an entire palletizing design for Campbell's Soup using those same robots (with different head tooling of course). They are so fast!

I took a tour of the Wellcraft boat factory down in Sarasota and thought it was very cool. They spray the gel coat with graphics into giant molds and then they lay the fiberglass on top of it. Next a guy shoots the mold with a chopper gun that feeds fiberglass and resin into the mold at the same time.

I could never imagine working there full time because the fumes were so strong it made some people on the tour sick. :Eyecrazy:

There were a couple of Japanese guys taking pictures of the factory and one of them got his flip flops stuck to the floor from the resin overspray.

I love to tour factories, I spent a couple of years building travel trailers and it's amazing how differently you look at something when you know how it's made. . .

The thing I love about the watercraft or the boats is they run the top and bottom down different sides of the assembly line, then slap the two havles together at the end.

This reminds me. While in Ohio last year my wife made me take her to the Longenberger Basket Factory (those baskets are a big deal to some chicks):dunno: I was dreading it the entire 1 1/2 hour drive to the factory but when i got there I accually enjoyed it. It was pretty cool. I even won my wife a basket:biggrin:

Yes I spent some time engineering at what is now the Sara Lee plant in
Paris back in my day it was owned by Anheuser Busch. I remember driving by that soup plant it was so damn big.

No $hit. Small world. I haven't been to that plant yet. I'm sure at some point I'll be swinging by there. I heard there isn't much to look forward to in that area. One cop, one straight road, and one restaraunt.
