Freestyle Hook up problem?

I'm breaking in my Jetmaniac 720 and Im running epic ignition, 144 mag pump and hooker big humb 9/15 prop I'm my fx1 and the pump feels like its only hooking up half the time. It'll go and then as soon as I let off it revs but pushes no water then has to catch up and shoots kinda. Anyone heard of this before or similar?

im not following you on the revs and pushes no water..does it cavitate? is there a steady thrust under rpm or does the motor hesitate too? Are the motor rpms consistant but the pump is not pushing? is the pump one of the new solas mags? Don't they have a spacer ring that is reqd or something? Need more info..

X2 is it motor or pump ? Hook up is either a meat market bar or the ability of the ski to put the power of the engine into thrust on/in the water, jet pumps like to suck air on the low pressure side so make sure to seal and smooth anything out on that side. Proping to engine output is critical . A good intake grate like Cold Fusion will help too .

If you shut the motor off and sink the rear of the ski under water so the entire pump cavity is filled. you can then start the ski and it should pull a hole shot style takeoff. Once moving, water is forced to the pump and should keep hooked up, so do a nose high tail landing jump and trap air around the pump and try to tail stand. If you lost hookup, you pump seal is not sealing. It's an easy way to check.

I think that i figured out the problem, when we replaced the did the 144 swap on the hull, we neglecte to change out the pump shoe so i was sunning a 122 shoe with a 144 pump so it was cavitating. I think that is the main problem, so ill swap that out in the next week or two and test and get back at you guys. Thanks
