i found a site that sells webbing straps the kind commonly seen used for hood straps
heres a link to the kind i will be getting
http://www.strapworks.com/Metal_Cam_Straps_p/cs1p.html
they sell other types of buckle and different material webbing
I like the metal cam because you can tighten them faster than latch type and i would think they are less likely to break (the Stainless ones are 750lb not 900lb) i've used these on slacklines and they are strong and don't slip yet still release easily
and i chose the polyester because it is stronger and has better abrasion resistance than the polypro and i don't want them to get worn out where the cam holds them the only downside is that colors other than black fade when they get wet. they are also better than nylon because they don't absorb water and don't stretch
They offer a lot of choices and different colors all at good prices and have lots of technical info for people looking to make their own straps and save a buck or two.
