Blaster hood straps on a b1 ???

anyone do this for the surf ? i have head pipe and footstaps so i might try some surf rolls (i can roll an sj flatwater and surf) im a bit worried about the hood popping off or the seat . i know it will probably crack but hey i bought it to use not to polish !
anyway any advise gratefully recieved

I've never seen anyone use them and I'm not sure how you could. The way a hood mounts on a blaster is a whole other cup of tea as compared to a standup where straps are pretty much essential. Just make sure the latch on the hood is adjusted as tight as you can reasonably make it and always lock both latches if you are going to be getting crazy.

That being said, you have a lot to worry about as far as hoods go if you are looking to get inverted on a blaster. It doesn't take much to crack them so I would just assume it is going to happen if you land inverted regardless of how you have it secured. I just toasted my third top hood on Saturday after pancaking a backie and it was heavily reinforced. Luckily the bottom hood survived this time (it was reinforced as well) although I didn't have it latched tight enough and it did slip off to the side and bend the latch pin. For that matter an unreinforced hull is also on borrowed time if you pancake. Check out my build thread for more on this although I haven't updated it yet with my latest rupture...

thats what i figured on the hood straps thanks . my hull and hood are stock!!!!! so i know there gonna break (i split the side of my rn on a 3/4 flatwater roll) was just going to let the crack then rip it apart for reinforcement/ repair after . i was just thinking some sort of strap to hold it all together so i can get back in . i already ripped the hood latch out of the hull doing flatwater stabs and letting ant burgess try to flatwater roll it . i have put a plate behind it now just thinking straps would be a little extra insurance

i herd the transom is pretty weak aswell. im thinking this wont end well lol

just make sure you adjust your hood latch and make it tight and you will have no dramas,,,, i have cracked many a blaster hull but have never had the hood come open
