Hood straps and hooks?

So I bought a JM hood strap kit last summer and I was running that with a stock latch and ADA Hood hooks. It was a pain in the ass to say the least. Well I'm just finishing up my custom RN and finding it difficult to fit those hood hooks back on the hood without hitting the prongs against the hull. So im wondering if people run just the ratchet strap setup and get rid of the hood hooks, prongs, and stock latch? Thanks in advance :)

Don't do it. I'm currently in the process of putting hooks, prongs, and a latch back on my ski. You will too after your hood about gets knocked off.

I can probably manage to get the hood hooks to work but I rreeeeeeeeaaaallly don't want to use the stock latch. It's a super pain and looks hideous using a ratchet and stock latch.

You need something on the back of the hood to keep it from shifting sideways.

I run stock hood hooks and a ratchet strap on my square nose with no oem latch, mostly because I never had one when I built that ski. As long as you have hooks at the front and the ratchet strap holding it down you will be good. I think no matter the setup its a bit of a process to take the hood on and off, if you want it to stay on there when you are riding.
