Paul Lehr said it skins over in an hour and could pressure test after that happens. I didn't get to that point tonight but if I had the time I would have tried it. I don't see a problem with testing early, before complete cure, since the stuff is supposed to remain pliable anyway. Mine will have passed the 24 hour mark before I can check it but at least Paul provided some food for thought. Thanks for the input boys.
I always wait 24 hours for it to cure on case halves before pressure testing.
I usually only use 1211 on the case halves and then install the rest of my gaskets dry. If say, the intake manifold is leaking then I 1211 the gasket on both sides and retest within a few hours. I have never had a 1211 covered gasket have any problems when pressure testing right after application. However, I always let the case halves cure fully before putting pressure on them.
i use 1211 AS my base gasket on the 760 cylinders. help to lower the port timing with out milling the bottom of the cylinder. .025 is not alot (thickness of base gasket) but it helps!
