High compression and race gas

I am currently sitting at 180lbs compression. Has anyone gone from about 180lbs to 210lbs and run straight race fuel? Is the difference/power worth the extra cash for the fuel?

Everyone opinion can vary. I had the thought too but after talking with Paul I decided not too. He advised on my setup(bolt ons with porting) that I not worry with it. Keeps it a bit more reliable, and safe the way I suck up water as much as I do.

He didnt say it but I kind of assumed from the conversation that higher compression is gonna give ya power but its a better result when used in lameys/BBK/strokers

So thats my take. I try to follow everything Paul and Tricky1 tell me to a T to get the best setup for me

Well, I have a standard stroke lamey PV motor that I think has a heavy race port on it, but it pulls nice at all rpms but really shines on the mid to top end. I was thinking it might be worth the effort to get a couple of different domes, boost the compression and see how the higher grade fuel performs.

What ignition are you running? Are you using it for only freestyle type riding? (brief WOT) Yes Lamey PV motors need more compression than fixed exhaust port motors. If you run an Avent or MSD Pro-Digital single-fire with the right curve, you can get it up there! Even with like 50/50 with the race gas mix.

I am just using it for freestyle and only do short bursts of WOT. I am currently just running a stock stator, flywheel and MSD enhancer.

me personally i have always noticed a difference when i went up in comp.
did it help... hell yeah
did it make more power? sorta, it mainly made it wind up faster and stronger, so you aren't technically going to have more mph, just a stronger feel when cracking the throttle.
is it worth it? thats debateable
does it shorten the life span of the motor? i personally think it decreases it's life span

i do it because of my weight, and since i only ride maybe 2 months out of the year, and i can get gas easily near me, i decided to it
problem i have now is, i am addicted to it, and there has been a possibility of not being able to get the fuel.

i noticed this in the kawi 650sx, my 701 SJ, 753 setup, and the current lamey setup

although i think if you are a light weight casual rec rider, i don't really think it's a ncessary investment, sure it adds fun, but it does come at a premium
i'd say invest in a RAD flywheel, and run a real steep prop
