Last Sunday evening I was chilling on the pontoon with no plans to ride a ski. Stop by a buddy's house and have a few drinks. They tell me their grandson just started riding this week and loves it. Having rebuilt the carbs earlier this season, I ask them how it's doing... They said "great, take it for a rip".. I say "nah I'm good." Then they ag me on. "C'mon dude show us what's up". "Ok.. ok whatever". Take it out and bust a few turns, then got bored of riding an sxr so of course I do a big fountain. Then..
why not try to full throttle slide an sxr? Haha that was fun, let's do it again but when it hooks, grab the rail and do a log roll! As I resurface from the log roll I get on the throttle and she stops hard... Immediate bad feeling ensues. I hit the starter and *clunk*. Hook it to the pontoon and drag her home. Now it's Friday and I'm returning it with a fresh crank, seals, end pin bearings, gaskets, and a new bilge pump/bar switch. Live and learn. Thank you Jetmaniac for helping me dig myself out of another hole.

Hilarious but not funny at the same time. Quite awesome of you to take responsibility and fix it for them even though they basically begged you to ride their ski. Did it fill up with water and hydrolock?
Yes I knew what had happened but also couldn't believe what had happened. It still has the stock flame arrestor. Bone stock 2011. Couldn't have picked a newer 800 to kill. It must take on water really fast and the siphon must be slow because I rode around a minute between the fountain and log roll.

Yes the Kawasaki siphon is slow but faster than any Yamaha siphon. Usually a sub will take 10 minutes or more for the siphon to crear and a bilge pump takes around 1 minute. The original 750sx had an airbox that protected the intake very well. All their twin carb boxes are not up to the task. Kawasaki engineers apparently are not riders themselves .
