SX/SXi/SXi Pro Hey Kawi Guys! Crack in tray!

What would cause a crack to form in the front corner of the tray next to the dash on a kawi750? Crack was about 2/3 of the way down starting at the lip. And NO damage to the side of the ski like it got T boned.Just can't figure how it happened.l have it repaired but never seen on do that.......

pretty rare to hear of a crack there with no apparent impacts, i would have to chock it up to a manufacturing flaw.

My ski had the same problem 98 sxi pro.
When i pulled up the turf ther was the crack about 2 " long right down the seam where the tray meets the side along with a small hole.
Looked like a cracked egg shell.
So thats how all my foam got wet..................

lnteresting that you had a similar problem.Wanderer may be right, manufacture's defect.This one was a 98 too.

One of the strangest places for a crack that l have ever seen.All fixed now so l can go back and do the turf.Just a week behind and the lake is calling...............................

It all goes back to how these hulls are made, its a flat sheet that is heated and a steel form pushed through it to make the shape of the ski, this process causes stresses in the material, no way to avoid it really.
