Hey guys-
New to this forum, but not to forums in general.
Anyway, I searched for this but didn't find what I'm looking for, and I'm hoping someone out there can help me.
I'm designing a way to carry an '08 SJ with my trailer. Currently the trailer is a big flat surface with wheel chocks in the front for carrying to race bikes, and I'm hoping to adapt it for use with a SJ.
The trailer is plenty big enough for one and probably even two, side by side. Currently I'm only looking to build a system for one.
My question is that when I mount the carpet-covered 2x4's (I'm assuming I'll use that) that will actually contact the hull of the ski, does anybody have any dimensions as far as rough angle of the carpet-covered runners, how far apart they should be, and how high off the flat deck they should be? I figure if I put them too far apart or too low, the bottom of the hull might hit the deck, and be pretty much pointless.
I'm going to drive a good 6hrs to pick up an '08 SJ, and obviously I can't get it without a trailer, but I don't feel comfortable just eyeballing the trailer runner dimensions without a SJ to measure from, or someone (hopefully) helping me with some dimensions.
General suggestions on construction materials, method, or anything else you feel might be helpful would be appreciated as well.
Thanks guys.
