i started off in the same boat, got an 86 for 200 bucks, by the time i was done getting it the way i wanted, i would go back and kick myself in the nuts for spending the money. u have some time till summer, find a Yamaha!!!!! parts are way easier to come by and there are way more people on here to get advice from. dont tinker with the 650 i wasnt happy at all, unless u plan on doing a 701 conversion. find a square nose IMO

I started out with a 650sx that a friend gave me,rode it for a couple years blew it up.Then i bought a parts 650 built it and sold it.Then i continued wastin money and bought a 750sx.Shortly after i bought a clean stocker 650 SN for 800 bucks, did the 701 conversion, footholds, etc and i rode the snot out of it and just continued workin my way up.If i could go back i would def start with a SN even if it is a 650 SN.But i do understand the high school budget,i am only a junior. So if u can get it cheap enough and everythin is there then go for it.I still have alot of old 650sx parts sittin in the garage so if u need anything just PM me.

alright whel i went with a buddy to check out a ski for him, and he got it, it is a kawi 650sx. and they had another ski, a 93 kawi 750 that runs awesome, it needs a little cosmetic tlc... but its got a aftermarket head, pipe, and air cleaner (from what i could see)! i asked how much they wanted for it and they said 750. i talked em down to 500. made a deposit on it and going to pick it up on saturday. what do you think? 500 sounds like a smokin deal to me... what do you guys think! a runner! im so juiced to go get it!
