Has anybody shortened the nose of a ski?

I was chatting about this idea with a few guys just this past weekend. seems like it would make sense more than doing the back, as it is kinda like a pseudo rickter.. i guess if you could make the mod to move the waterbox and stuff back and reshape the bottom hull to align with the new angle, maybe deep like a Q8..
I looked into it quite a bit this last winter and abandoned the idea. I still think it would be awesome but in order to shape and taper everything so that it rides properly, you'd have to refiberglass at least a 1/3 of the bottom of the hull. If you've got a spare hull, I say go for it. Otherwise, there is a huge oppurtunity to make the hull ride 10x worse.

I am busy with an SXI, I think I am 50mm off the back and 200mm off the nose.
Yeah that was my concern, I have a spare hull but dont really want to throw it away if it goes terribly wrong :ugh: I really wanted to section it right in front of the front motor mounts to easily retain the front end design and make it easy to modify the topdeck. I also thought about filling the nose with foam and just start chopping, cut it back and reshape a bit. Would like to take off 4-7 inches from the front and 2-3 in the rear, I don't have a waterbox so would only have to work around my pipe (pretty close to the same location as a waterbox)

Well something else to think about is this... When you have 2-3" off the back, the nose is rarely in the water anyway so even if the chines weren't made perfect, you may not notice it.
I do like the foam in the nose idea and I would love to see someone chop the nose so you have my support. If I think of any other ideas, I'll chime in.

They seem to get shorter after doing incomplete back flips in shallow water.
Why would you want to shorten the nose on purpose?
