I think they are based in MI. I am debating on going with a high solids clear or a med solids clear. The high solids clear is going to cost about 30 bucks more.

what didn't you like about it. I don't want to shell out big bucks. this hood only needs to look decent for a couple seasons - until a new hood is in the budget.

I used PPG on my last 3 paint jobs, I did my current one for around $230 total for supplies. I painted it in 2002 I think and it's still in great shape, very durable clear/base coat. I also did it in 3 days total, from strip to riding again, so even in a rush job if you use good stuff it will normally come out right.

I have used KIRKER paints on some stuff,so far I have been very happy with the results. It is very easy to spray and the flow out is awesome, they hjave some paint simailar to HOK but much cheaper, you can mix and match the colors together to get the desired shade and you can shoot it over different bases also, the color variations are endless,They also have a good selection in single stage polyurethane that does not have to be clearcoated.

well I went with the matrix. to get ppg local it would have been over 2 times the price for everything. The lady at the paint shop was super nice and helpful too. They also have house of kolors. Has any one ever used that?

any ways its just the stock hood. Hopefully I can replace it in the next couple years so this is a good place to test the cheap paint.
