SXR handling for racing

i'm building a sxr for racing the limited class what do i need to do to make it handle right around the corse? what i'm looking for is like ride plate, intake grate, and sponsons ect ect.

Destroyer front sponsons, put them at 40 inches from the rear of the ski, not 38 like Blowsion suggests. Intake and rideplate is a matter of opinion. I personally hate the TMB ride plate unless it is modded. IMO, it puts too much downforce on the nose, which makes it work against the tubbies. I like the Skat intake, Skat shoe and the bullet or Worx rideplate. The R&D works well, also, but you will have to mod it to work with the skat intake as it has a cut out to be used with their own intake manifold.

But, remember, what works for one person could suck for another. Best thing to do is to test different set ups on your own and make your own decision.

Scott, I always felt the R&D, Worx (Old Style) ride plates put too much downforce where as the TBM did not. But like you said, personal preference dictates what works best for you.

Tubbies/destroyers or MACC racing front sponsons are a must. Do not blend them into the hull, this takes away from the "sharp" definition where the hull and sponson meet - which is very important in the sponsons role in aiding handling. I personally think this is one of the downsides to the aftermarket hulls with built in front sponsons, but you don't have that issue. Good luck and have fun! Limited boats are the best.
