Going from 5mm stroker to 8mm stroker??

FIrst I have a 5mm stroker motor built by Chucky/Supertune about 4 years ago. It's AWESOME and I am probably stupid to try and change it...but...

My crank let go at the end of this season. Like a dumbass I sent it to Pro-Tec to rebuild it instead of just sending the whole thing back to Chucky. Pro-Tec can't get the crank a part to fix it. They claim they broke a puller trying to get it disassembled. They suggest I send it to ADA since it looks like ADA originally built it and say a small prayer that ADA can fix it.

In the mean time I got a good deal on an 8mm stroker crank from Goose. So I was considering running that. My plan is to get the R&D Dominator 1.5mm thick base gasket and have Chucky cut me some ~3mm relieved domes. The theory is that 1.5+3mm - the thickness of the original base gasket = 4mm.

The motor was ported for a 5mm stroker and going with the gasket and the 3mm domes (I had 2mm relieved domes for the 5mm crank) basically takes 1mm out either direction, so the port timing should be the same with the 8mm stroker. However the duration because of the increase stroke will actually be slightly less. I am hoping that I do not need to touch Chucky's porting.

So am I on the right track?

Aaron, Get back to me after Daytona and I'll need more info...Who's crank is it? (manufacture) Most 8mm cranks come with 133 or 134mm length rods, do you know what rods you have? Talk to you later! Chuck
