FX-1 FX1 Kill Switch/Starter Question

Recently I replaced my kill switch for my FX1 and everything worked fine (except for sometimes when I pulled the lanyard out it wouldn't kill it), until last weekend when I was riding I killed the motor then every time i hit the button it would kinda click and grind like the starter wasn't being fully engaged. After awhile, when i would hit the start button nothing happened, no click, nothing.

My question is, does it sound like the starter went out or it could be the switch?

Has anyone else had this problem and where should i start as far as troubleshooting goes?

IF it is the starter that is bad, how hard is it to replace? Do i have to pull the motor? Because i really do not want to do that.

Any help is appreciated.

Thank you,

Reid

took apart the kill switch and turns out the connections where the lanyard slips in was all gunked up and wasn't making a solid connection. Those Yamaha switches are sketchy, but i am glad i did that before starting to replace stuff.

I'm sure other people have had this same issue with Yamaha Switches but if not, thats the first thing i would check before going through the hassle of replacing the switch.
