Your question is a little askew...if you mean do you need them. No. I delete them from every hull I own.

Well, it's doing its job. Where do you have the line running?

You will have to look at the line and trace where it is going. If the hose is just flopping around in the bottom of the hull than that is where it is picking up the water. But I'm just guessing here. Help us help you.

Im wondering why my seperator keeps filling up with water

It is filling because you are pulling the handlebars and vent line under water. The line fills and runs into the trap. I have eliminated most of this by installing a small asprin bottle on the end of the vent with a pin hole at the top and bottom. This slowed down the water intrusion enough for several seconds of under water activity. Most people vent the tank in the hull, which is a very bad idea. Hoods do get blown off occasionally.
