Fuel tank vent line nipple repair

Location

I snapped off the nipple when pulling my tank vent line off. I am debating trying to repair this and have seen some people do threaded brass inserts. At the same time this is a gas tank and I am not sure I should risk it. Anyone try to repair these? Thank you!

You can also use one of these. My JAZ tank uses them and I know other tanks do to. Stupid simple.

I would buy a billet one /\/\/\, I installed that one on a buddies ski, it was rusted bad in one season.

You think if I drill it out that grommet will seal well on a stock tank? Maybe I am being paranoid but it is gasoline Thanks for the help!

The tank plastic is very thick where those nipples are. Just drill it and thread for 1/8" NPT and get a brass or nylon fitting to screw in there.
I have those push on fittings for my aluminum tank and the grommets don't last in addition to the fitting rusting...
