Old X-2's don't die
- Location
- New Jersey
My Friend comes across a 89 550 in one of his clients sheds (he is a landscaper).
It is their son's but he's moved away and it has been sitting for years. The owner tried to start it a couple of years back when visiting and told his parent to just get rid of it.
So it sat. Except for mouse eaten spots on the pads, and a patina from sitting in a Sears shed for all these years it is like new. it still has a working toe pad at the front of the tray.
Problem is no fuel is getting to the carb. I poured some gas down the carb throat and it fired instantly and sounds crisp. There is a pulse at the pump but no fuel going to the carb.
I found (on Bike Bandits part fiche) the fuel relay and guessing this may be the culprit.
What is it for? Can I just bypass it? Do I just cap off the wire going to it or do I have to do anything in the electrics box?
I am an X-2 guy and the solenoid is new to me.
Thanks!
