Other fuel pressure with external mikuni pump and twin 48s?

I recently had a issue with a 60 jet cloging in the return line of a external fuel pump fullspec twin 48 carb setup,I removed it and the ski ran just as good with out it,but cycled alot more fuel back through the return. How necessary is this restrictor for fuel pressure with this type fuel pump. More directly how critical is the size, would a larger jet work ok with slightly less fuel pressure.Im getting pretty crappy fuel time in surf with the higher fuel pressure the 60 jet makes,it seems to gulp fuel even in the slow wake? it still feels tuned spot on when riding

Your popoff is low enough work without much head pressure. You could reinstall the restrictor and raise the popoff to end up with the same mixture. An overly rich pilot/popoff is usually required for best throttle response but will burn a lot of gas in the surf.

tell me about it,Im surprised how much extra fuel it burns this way,Ive tuned for low end responce with the smallest pilot i can get a way with and it rips but uses alot of fuel.Ive tried everything from a 1.8 to 2.5 n&s to try for diff flow rates and popoffs to see if I could get much better.nothing worked as good as the 1.8,makes me wana give the 1.5 a try.
