fuel consumption

I have an SXR with dual I-body 40mm's, stock motor. Jets: 70/135
I have a Limited SJ with dual I-body 40mm's, Moto T reeds, Riva ported cylinder, head, dry pipe, TL. Jets: 75/155

When riding each for about the same amount of time, the SXR consumes about 30% more fuel than the SJ. Repeatedly. Even when I am out pinning that SJ (nice challenge trying to read a tiny tach at 8,000 rpm's) and I have friends dorkin' around on the SXR learning to ride, the SXR consumes noticeably more fuel, yet makes less HP and spins at lower RPM's (MAX rpms, at least). Both ski's have props set up more for racing, not freestyle.

Not that I really care about fuel economy, just thought this was interesting. Any thoughts?

Perhaps the SXR is spinning higher RPM's at lower speeds than the SJ (Don't have a tach on the SXR, but doesn't seem to), or is the displacement difference causing the SXR to draw more fuel through the carbs, even though the jets are smaller?

The SXR is quite a bit heavier, and it has more hull-water contact.

Much higher load on the motor, causing higher consumption.

Example from the automotive world: A 350 engine in a small truck without load will not consume as much gas as a 350 in a big truck fully loaded, with big tires.
