My wifes ski needed motor mounts. Once the motor was out...it needed more. Nothing tragic...just some attention before the season.
Jetmaniac hooked me up with all that was needed...(fast too!) .
GP800 mounts and a new-to-me ebox aluminum back piece, as well as a new nut and keeper-washer for the primer....ack! pot metal!

Anyway.. Got it all together, cleaned up, ready to go for the summer. It fired, ran great. (I start 'em up every couple days..ride or not)

Today would have been the 3rd start-up since the motor went back in.
Green button did nothing. Nothing at all. Not even a click from the solenoid.
Now I'm thinking I f'd up something. But there's nothing between the battery and the solenoid but the cable!...O.k. bad cable....dammit. Gotta pull the e-box to check power at the solenoid to make sure....
Did all the regular stuff first...batery, start/stop switch....
Just as I was mouthing profanities and bobbing my head up and down over the engine compartment my friend/fishing/riding buddy walks past the house walking his dog. (x2frank). I told him what was going on.
He said,"yea, those cables are pretty old, but check that main fuse in the e-box".

The fuse was bad. 2 minutes of work vs. hours......
Funny though, the filament in the fuse was not burnt or parted. But the metal end cap was loose on the glass tube.

The point: An extra set of eyes and ears can save you a lot of work. This is why the X rocks....and why riding buddies rock!

The Good Old Days
I think everyone has been there more than once.
Scratch your head for hours while a fresh set of eyes spots the problem in seconds.
All in all, you're back up and riding and it wasn't something expensive.

That's the beauty of it!

I was ready to start ripping it apart.

Sometimes I get tunnel vision.

The funniest was when I put in the MSD enhancer. Removed the stock CDI, installed the MSD. Couldn't get the cover back on the e-box. I fought it for at least 5 hours and came to the conclusion that there was no way that these wires can fit in this stock assembly. I'm a fairly mechanical guy. This could not be done...in my opinion at that time....lol.

Frank gets home from work. Looks at it for 30 seconds and says, "hey man, you need to put those wires underneath the MSD".

Yep! plenty of room under there! Done deal.
The stock CDI has the wires on top. I was trying to do it the same way......

I went for 20 years thinking that our little group was the last "stand-up" jet ski group on the planet. Even rode the spot since 2003 without meeting the Sunday crew until 2006. (Idok, Butti, Ewok, Yamaslut, Aircraftsalz, Jetmaniac, Lucas, Tem...etc...) They told me about the X.
All of them have helped me in ways large and small.
So very cool.
