Footwell Padding

Hey All:

Question for those of you who run footwells:

Do you use underpadding on the sides and upper portion of the footwell itself, underneath the mat? Or do you just run yours with underpadding under your feet, in the tray?

That is, how much underpadding did you end up with on the sides of the footwell?

I realize that it's probably a personal preference thing and everyone's foot is different.

I think I'll end up experimenting a bit with different layers of padding on the top portion(inside the well), to ensure that there are no hot spots on the top of my feet.

Then, when I have it the way I like it I can do my final turfing of the sides.

Good call?

Thanks in advance.

I'm just about ready to get back in the water after a long hiatus!

IF your talking about inside the footholds I have 2 layers of 8mm under my feet and 1 layer of 8 mm just on the top of my foot on the inside so that my foot can't slip out sideways. I really like all the extra padding on the bottom it makes for a very cushy ride and just pack your footholds untill you get them so that when you JAM your foot into them it fits tight you don't want to come out of the foot hold that makes for bruises.

And I always put an extra layer of underpadding on the top edge of the gunwell where you put your elbows that make it a little better on your elbows after a day of falling off and climbing up also makes it easier on the head when you fail a huge superman sub but that is another story
