My style of flare roll instead of leaning forward to roll I lean back, you end up landing flat pointing back toward the beach and spinning vertical. If that is considered a flareroll?

Thats pretty much the same as on flat. Lean to the back corner of the hull, and pull the trim and throttle just as leaving the setup wake. Pm highroller- he can give you more details

ok.... I'm trying to figure this one out too....

I'm approaching the wave.... (I roll left)

I go up like a normal roll ,but instead of leaning forward and turning the bars to the left, I lean to the back left corner and turn bars to left at the same time I would normally do a roll.

Or do the bars turn to the right???

:dunno: :dunno:

what is a flare roll supposed to be? I've done a couple of rolls that I end up parallel to the wave becaust my weight was over the tray not the hood. is that a flair?

no.... your nose will face the beach when you land..

you did what I use to call a nose high roll... I've done them vertical... it looks horrible and not a fun landing either

I figured it was just a bad roll.

what is a flare roll supposed to be? a flip and roll? are you supposed to land it 180 degrees for the direction of the jump?

Yes slut that is how I do it, I also don' like doing it off a big wave either. Sometimes you land sideways and it can hurt. Who knows what is the right name is, I just call it a flare. It seems everyone has their own version.

btw, i know a few pro's that hate the name flarrel roll.. i think they call it backflip twist amongst themselves.

I don't care what its called, I just want to know how to do it...
It's about time I learned a new trick...

For flatwater it helps to use trim to setup the wake but you don't want to use it to do the trick or it slows the rotation down to much. You just aproach your wake slowly and do a small turn right into the V of the wake. (if your rollin g to the left) then turn bars to the left and pull back. Do not try and get ur wait forward till ur upside down. When upside down get it forward fast and you'll start spinning real fast.

In the surf it is very easy... The trick is to just wait till the wave is just before breaking/ in the process of curling. Almost the same time you'd hit it for a flip. Just do it like a normal roll only standing up more. The wave will throw you in the right direction. Just hold on.

The trick it to not rotate around the nose of the ski like normal but around your upper body.

As best described to me, it is more back flip than a roll, go into the trick doing a back flip, but crank the bars like you are going to do a roll.......
