Custom/Hybrid fire extinguisher

i am wanting to put footholds on my conversion ski. the hull is 89 300sx and it has the two fire extinguisher holes on the the sides of the tray. since i am putting footholds in i have to cut them out. where did you guys who have had this problem store your fire extinguisher?

ya im pretty sure in indiana/michigan (mostly where i ride) you gotta have one on board. -_- i think its gay but any ideas where i can shove one of those things where a copper aint gonna be pissy about it.
