Freestyle Filler Neck Swap

So I'm going to take out the filler neck for the gas and paint it black, i was just wondering if anyone had ever done this before. Do i have to connect it back to the tube that connects to the gas tank inside the hull, or is it just a simple put back in place installation? Any help thanks.

Every one I've ever seen had a clamp

Whatever paint you use will probably only hold up to the fuel and constant on/off of the cap for a little while. You can get an OEM yamaha black filler. Otherwise you are correct, 6 screws (or 8?) and a hose clamp on the inside.
