This thing has a factory pipe and one of the mounts that bolt to the head is missing. It looks like the previous owner overtightened it and the bolt hole in the head is stripped. Can i just Helicoil it or would that shave to much material and damage the head?

I'm talking to the best riders, so please help?

don't use a helicoil use a time cert. they are stainless and will last much better. the head should still be good.

Yeah, Time-certs are a much better alternative to helicoil (but had to find).

Just make sure that the bolt that was there didn't actually snap off inside the cylinder. That will make extracting the bolt very hard. If that is what happened, you should remove cylinder and have a machine shop extract it and have them Time-cert it.

Option 2: Put a long stud in place of a bold. Because the original bolts don't threat all the way into the threads in the cylinder, you could easily place a stud and secure it with RED loctite. The longer stud will bite into more thread and the red loctite will help where the upper stripped threads are. You could even use a plain Helicoil along with the stud for extra hold.

Thanks guys, i'll get the timeserts from Orlando,Fl.

No ,the bolt didn't break off inside. And, the hole is in the middle of the head and not one of the tourque bolt holes

Thank you gentlemen.
