Blaster Factory mod pipe fit?

I'm trying to dry fit expansion chamber and I'm finding the slots in the brackets don't allow the expansion chamber to butt up flush with the head pipe. How common is this problem? If I insert the cardboard washer it makes it worse. It will fit with appropriate hardware but that would allow for a gap between head pipe and chamber. I think that would be bad since exposed coupler would be exposed to exhaust heat.

Do you have the mount that goes above the exhaust manifold?

Yes, it's 6 dozen 1/2 one or the other. If the flywheel cover mount lines up then the manifold bracket doesn't. I just installed the pipe with both fibre board washers left off. It all lines up perfect then. How much do I really need those? I assume they were meant to isolate heat from pipe bracket to rubber lord mount. It's almost like it was manufactured with out fibre washers and then added back in as an afterthought.

Here's another problem I run into. Looks like 701 industries air down is a good solution but what was everyone doing up til now
