Ok so I picked up some "Gasket Remover" Thought it might help. So I spray down the cylinders, head, cases..... let it sit for 10 minutes....

The gasket residue came of with the first swipe! Sweet!
but..... SO DID MY PAINT!!!!! At least I have old parts, but I guess they should call it paint remover too.

Just a warning for you guys with preaty engines!

And my question is i washed eveything up... I wont assemble it for another 3-5 days.

Do I need to spray the stuck with WD40, all I have on me now is silicone spray, will that work.

Thanks-NICK

gasket remover is basically paint thinner but spray something on the motor even if it is silicone spray. better than nothing

I would spray the cylinder with WD-40, then when the motor is assembled pore some oil that you mix with your gas into each cylinders. turn the motor a few times and that will give you a nice coat on the cylinder. The wd will help prevent rust but wears off quickly when you try and crank it.

I'd stay away from the silicone spray if think you'll ever want to repaint it. It'll be a b!tch to clean it well enough to get the paint to stick . . . . . . .
