just want some tips and advice on how to make my motor dual cooled.

im asking because i just detonated a piston im running a 62t 701 cylinder thats slightly bored out. im gonna have to go 1 over on it unless its better to just by a new cylinder. any advice there would be cool too. lastly since im going to just rebuild the top end completley, what pistons should i go with cast or forged? going to be buying a new head as well.

Make sure the reason you detonated your piston was the cooling it is possible depending on the temp of your water you ride in you can over cool and cause another problem but the water has to be pretty cold tho

  • too low an octane fuel
  • jetting too lean or failure of the fuel system, i.e., clogged fuel line or filter, fuel tank not venting, problem with fuel pump, carburetor, air leak into crankcase
  • spark plug heat range too hot
  • ignition timing too far advanced
  • restricted exhaust system: back pressure too high
  • overheated, loosely-installed spark plug

If your running a b-pipe tapped for dual cooling you first run each cooling line to the exhaust manifold, after that run one to your exhaust (bottom) and the other to the stinger (if you have one) if you don't have a stinger run it out the hull, the best way to set-up your lines is the supply or the colder water goes in the bottom and the return or the hottest come out the top, because as the water heats up it goes up and out.

well i pulled all the screws on my b pipe and began to flush it. while i flushed it water sprayed me in the face from a hole in the weld where the bottom screw is!!!!!!!!! could that be the problem? also the fuel line where it connects ti the carb was leaking at the fitting. i hate when i brake sh*t. because i always find more stuff wrong.

Your fuel line might might have caused you go run to lean, the leak in your b-pipe would only affect your power band aand or melt your coupler
