Dual Bilge Pump Install

Hi guys, I'm fairly new to this sport, and I am deciding to overhaul my new 2013 Yamaha Superjet. I am open to advise and my first question would be the following: do I require to remove the engine in order to install the bilge system as close to the shaft as possible? I noticed that i may be able to do so by simply removing the exhaust and possibly the OEM carb cover, but I am not a 100% sure if it will work. I am willing to try, but thought maybe I would ask someone who maybe has done this multiple times.

Remove the coupler cover and you won't have to take off the exhaust or anything else.. You can slide it right next to the driveshaft when you take that cover off towards the bulkhead. You'll see. Plenty of room.

Sounds good. Makes sense since you don't want any water spraying all over the place. I found a thread which has a few pictures and ideas of the mounting process, so if anyone else has a step by step process, it would be much appreciated to get some input. I know it is not rocket science, but I just want to make sure I do this properly

yeah I was thinking about getting a mount like you mentioned, but it seems like they are more work to install. Im thinking of going with the standard plastic mount with screws/epoxy into the bottom of the boat.
Screws? NO. Just glue the base down bud. No screws necessary.

Yeah thanks for the info. I just looked at the original screws they give you with a bilge pump and their roughly 1" long so definitely way to long to screw down. I will epoxy it into place. thanks again
No problem! Make sure you clean the area with acetone or a similar cleaner, and rough up both surfaces.

Sounds good. I see the stock bilge is right near the shaft so it makes it hard to install both bilge pumps where I want them any recommendations to this minor issue? I am thinking just relocating the stock one and removing the existing mount.

Are you running a single pump or duals? If you have to, I'd just slide the stock one over a little bit if you can or relocate it. But towards the rear of the hull is where you're gonna want it. The stock one is very useful still since you don't have to depend on electricity and a pump for it to work. It works like a siphon.

I bought 2 600 GPH pumps, i would like to install both, but I don't really need them I know it is overkill anyways. I want to mount them both near the shaft. Removed the mount for stock bilge and I will epoxy it to the bottom of the haul near the side. I tried to fit everything with both pumps, and I can make it work. Thanks for the help I will keep you posted on the progress.

Wow I should have read your title..lol Yeah, with dual pumps you'll have to move the stocker. Sounds like you've got everything figured out man! Nothing wrong with two bilge pumps, just means you get the water out faster ;)

just wanted to show the progress after the modifications
