Dry pipe question.

I have seen people restricting the water that goes into the stinger fitting on their dry pipes. I am running a Type 4 dry and was thinking about putting a T fitting into the line that runs from the chamber to the stinger and running it overboard. Will this benefit the performance of my ski (preferably down low) or will it just make it run to hot?

Just run a jetworks flow valve.

Restricting the water to the stinger only drys out the water box for a crisper throttle response right off of idle. If you run the box dry it will get hot but if you only T the water line there will still be water in there so I don't it giving you a problem.

FPP, shows a 175, 177.5, or 180 jet reccomended for that.

So is the pipe threaded? Also is this for a mikuni jet or are they the same?

Not sure if its threaded, can't get mine out. Mikuni main jet. I have never noticed it load up at all, so little water going through there.

I figured the diameter of the jet would be smaller than the ID of the stinger fitting and it would just get ejected...no I am excited to try it out need to find a big main jet.

O sorry forgot to say use an old seat from a needle and seat 2.0 then if that works for you get a jet works valve.

Restricting the water in the stinger has 2 effects. One is drying the waterbox, the other is making the effective stinger diameter larger which gives less backpressure.

In some cases you may want to increase the water to make the stinger seem smaller.

ya its threadedl, mikuni main jet I only said 200 to be safe Ihad a 150 for a while when its what I had, i was workin with other carb settings when I did it so I couldnt say the actual effects. Im gonna try with and without sometime.

Yes and no. Run a FCV with a dry pipe then hit a no wake zone for 5 minutes---you might melt something.

I have a 150 main jet in mine and also use a jetworks flow control valve. The only problems I have had was when I had the valve set to open at too high of an rpm. Once I got it to open at about 3500 rpm it was ok.
