Does anyone know what the length difference is between a raider driveshaft and a superjet driveshaft?

Or even which is longer or shorter?

Other than length they are interchangable right?

Meaning that you would need special tools for resplining or that a resplined shaft would be weaker because it wasn't re-hardened after?

"May" be weaker because it wasn't re-hardened after shortening the shaft and resplining, if the splines are in fact induction-hardened in the first place.

The original splines cut just as easily as the rest of the shaft. I'd be suprised if they are hardened at all.

BTW the superjet shafts are smaller diameter than all couch shafts.

That's what makes cutting down a couch shaft so desireable.

I have 2 GP800 shafts i'm going to have cut down to Superjet length. I'll sell one and keep the other as a spare.

I think X-Scream is going to be offering this service soon, not sure who else is already doing it.

So my idea for moving a motor forward in my stunt hull wouldn't work after all. I probably wouldn't have enough room for a gas tank and waterbox if I did it anyway. I'm tall and heavy and thought it might make it ride less nose high. Just another hairbrain idea shot down.

You would need a longer midshaft then wouldn't you? Or use a longer shaft and the spacer the GP's use between the bulkhead and midshaft carrier...you would have to do some solid research but i bet you could piece something together. I have a midshaft housing and shaft out of a 97 GP800 if you need it. I sold one to CHIPS for his stunt hull build already.

It would have worked with a regular midshaft because the bulkhead in a stunt hull kit can be placed forward or back without much trouble. The problem arises from the diameter of the driveshaft. Because of that another midshaft would be needed.

The splines are all the same diameter and swap still, the SJ shafts just taper down over their length to save weight. The couch shafts are the same dia from one end to another...at least the GP800 shafts I have here are.
