Super Jet Does this coupler look right??

I just bought a 96 superjet and I noticed how far apart the coupler was. I also have a 97 with a stock coupler and the spacing isn't as severe. Is it normal with billet couplers or should I be worried?

that is too far apart... my ski is like that too, and i havent had any issues for over a year.. but people will say it will destroy your rubber dampner. i saw a thread a while back where you can pull your mid shaft out and hammer the shaft back out so itll close the gap. i will probably do this when i pull my motor to put my new motor mounts.. IMO though, it would be fine to run like..

Have you tried to loosen motor mounts and slide the motor back ? if you close the gap near 1/8 inch your good...you can run it as is until you work on it, no hurry really.

Good tip...also I have heard of people widening the holes on the motor mount to slide them back a little further as well. I don't know if it a good idea or not though.

you shouldnt need to widen or drill out your motor mount holes to make it right. The mid shaft is too far to the rear. If you remove the midshaft, it needs to have about 20mm stickoing out the inside... mine and a buddies skis both did that after our motor mounts broke...

^^^^hahahah^^^^yep, little different if you make that decision and do it yourself though.

Ya, I have been running my SJ ike that for a year now and it is fine. I do plan to fix when I get around to doing other things in that area but for now its working fine.
