All of the manufacturers have good and bad points. I own an SeaDoo HX like the one in the ad. If it is stock (and even if it isn't) I wouldn't pay more than $1500 MAX for one.

As for good points of Bombardier, they have some great engineering aspects to the way they do stuff. O-ring heads and rotary valves on stock motors is nice. O-ring flywheel cover is great. The stock pipe makes great power and the electrics are pretty solid and fairly easy to access.

Bad points would be the fact that the motor uses allen bolts and like 3 different sizes of metric head bolts.

I could list good and bad of Yamaha and Kawaskis too.

Bottom line, Bombardier makes pretty decent stuff, but their strategy has always been to make the highest performing boats and squeezing out as much stock horsepower as possible. This leads to a motor that requires more maintenance than say a Yamaha. They also have sold many more units than either brand so you are more likely to see a larger proportion of "problems" with Bombardier skis. It's not that they break any more than a Yamaha or Kawasaki, there are just WAY more of them out there. I'd go so far to say as well that the majority of old dead Bombardier skis out there are due to lazy/ignorant owners.

I just thought the spelling of Bombardier was funning "Bombardick" But I used to have an HX, pretty fun ski but not for $3000!

Seadoo has some very good points from a technicians view point, starter replacement 15 min job, nothing else has to come off, starter solenoid replacement 15 minute job and the newest solenoids are bulletproof, carb removal is easy breezy because of the I body carbs., o-ringed heads are standard, there are a few issues but most are really simple, don't jump the ski off with anything, replace the non ethanol compatable fuel lines with automotive lines, replace the clogged up fuel selector valve.
