SXR DASA 900 or kawi 1100

My friend is looking to buy a sxr 1100 but I convince him to buy the one with DASA engine instead as I think it's lighter which will handle easier. The one with 1100 engine cost around 10K (everything is pretty much stock with skat magnum pump) and the one with DASA engine is around 8000. What would you recommend? pros and cons between the twos? I'm trying to help him get the best out of his money. I told him to hold it till I get some advise from the X-forum first LOL

The DASA set up that tobey is sellng has all the bells and whistles ready to rock. It is lighter for sure and if you are free riding, that is a plus. Plus, it will have more power than a stock 1100 set up. If your friend is building a 'race' ski, the added weight of the 1100 is a plus. But, to get to the level of performance of the DASA set up, he will have to add some bolt ons.

For the money, Tobey's set up is pretty amazing.

Hello, in terms of racing performance point of view, how much Tobey's boat faster than the stock 1100? I'm trying to give my friend the pros of the one with DASA engine. He also concerns of the reliability.

The advantage to the 1100 is how easily you can get good performance out of it. Basically, some port work, reeds, decent carbs, compression and the free mods and you can have a high 60s mph race ski that will stay hooked up better than a normal SXR because of the weight and length of the 1100 motor. The only real disadvantage to the 1100 is fuel milage. The triples are gas hogs!

The DASA set up is a more bottom end set up. Depending on who did the port work, they can be very violent on the bottom end. While it is awesome feeling, it can also be a bear to control in race chop. For me, being that I am close to 40, I would rather have the smooth power deliver of a 1100. But, if I was 20 years younger and could control the DASA, that would be the ticket for sure. It just depends on what you are searching for. As far as reliability, I don't think either is going to be a time bomb. DASA makes top notch products and a modded 1100 isn't even working to push around a ski hull.
