FX-1 D cut or crew cut JD ride plate

Getting close on finishing my FX1, it's been a long build.

I fit the 144mm pump and clearanced a JD ride plate to fit flush on the brass tabs, no shims. Since i have 2 plates, I was thinking about leaving one stock size for flat water riding, and putting a d-cut in the other for surf. I used to run a d-cut stock ride plate that I liked.

However, when I map out the D-cut on the JD plate, it leaves 2 spears on the sides of the ride plate that I envision piercing my thigh at some point. Just doesn't look safe. :scratchchin:

My other option to get the nose to pop is to cut 2 1/2" straight across the back of the plate effectively shortening it, or no cut at all.

Anyone have any suggestions on this plate, 144mm pump and surf riding?

Thanks,
Joe

Lowered the pump a bit into the hull, took a little material off the pump "ears" near the wear ring bolt holes, and ground the center of the ride plate a few mm's. It's quite thick.
