Custom Octane Restore/Build

Picked up this hull, I believe it to be some type of custom built hull from some molds somewhere out there. Waliltons said it wasn’t one of his, if you have any info or recognize it, drop some knowledge below. Was told it got passed around by some upstate NY guys before it made its way south. Got it shipped from NC to FL, was sold a ”solid” hull, didn’t exactly receive that! Day 1 pictures below. Identifying lots of repairs needed, pulling apart the hood that was becoming separated, and started grinding. Luckly it seems most of this glasswork was pretty loose and came up with only a little bit of blood, sweat, and tears. It’s setup for a Yamaha driveline, so thinking a 701 with a wet jet pipe I have laying around.

put it together. He bought just the top and bottom parts to put together. It's all set up for a Yamaha driveline, motor mounts etc. If you can track down his build it was very detailed of him putting together.

I just wonder when I see stuff like this........why bother at all if this is the quality of the finished project?

It appears the base work was exceptional, however, almost 20 years down the road it looks like someone tried reinforcing areas of the ski and didn’t do the greatest job. Once the junk glass was removed, I think the base will take new glass fairly well and should strengthen up again.

I’ll link Superramjets build down below, i can only hope the quality of the finished project this time is as good as his first.

I see whatcha mean now, you Are correct. It would have been better off for me and the guy before me if they didn’t Attempt the glass Work. It wasn’t helping anything lol
