300/440/550 Crankcase teardown

Can I seperate my crancase halves without pulling my flywheel ? Thanks in advance. Mayday.

No the stator plate spans the cases in the front, you must remove the flywheel and the stator to split the cases.

Thanks! I ordered a puller earlier today but was getting antsy. I am rebuilding a 550 and have figured out that the previous owners (i presume) poured oil into the stator inspection hole(totally speculation) and I cant wait to see how jacked up it is in there. Mayday.
