Cracks in recently painted cowling (Yamaha Superjet)

Hello, I posted on this forum before, asking what kind of paint i should use on my 2004 superjet.

Well, since then a bodyshop painted it for me, took is out last saturday (25 degrees celcius, full of sun) and wanted to clean this morning, and found this. (see pictures).

Cracks in the pain at the point where the steering handle is resting. What could cause this? Impact, or bad painting? Looks like it is the paint that cracked, not the cowling/hood. That piece of the cowling is the strongest part of the entire cowling in my opinion. ITs on both sides of the cowling at the same place. Cant be from the steering handle right? I didnt smack it into the cowling all day

Perhaps the paint is not thick enough there, or maybe too thick?

Looks like you had structural instability prior to it getting painted ( going with you didnt damage it on the ride) and this allowed the structure to flex thereby cracking the new paint.

As said above your hood is cracked and got worse from the handpole hitting the rubber pad. That is not a paint crack, it's a structural problem with the hood.

Agreed with above, that's not a paint problem, that is a problem beneath the paint unfortunately.

It looks like the rubber band that is intended to hold down the fire extinguisher compartment is cut. A heavy fire extinguisher inside of that compartment coupled with the compartment not being secured properly (the rubber bands job) would allow it to come up and and slam back down. A few instances of that happening could (and likely would) lead to some damage like you are seeing on your hood.

Did you extinguisher holder break that ride or have you just been riding around letting your extinguisher smash your hood?
