could a round nose bracket work on a squarenose?

the bolt holes are different , simple enough to fix.

and the angle is different on RN vs SQN hulls.

stock RN brackets wont let the pole go UP as high on a square hull.

aftermarket bracket though, should not be a problem.

bolt it on and see.

like mouth said.

I have an xmetal bracket on my square. Had to move the hood hooks too. And on the underside of the bracket mounting area, there is a dimple on the squares that wont let the backing plate mount flush. Need to grind or sand that down too. I would definately reinforce the whole mounting area too, its kinda flimsy on a square.

you could maybe ad some spacers or something right?

I think the bolts/holes are different sizes too though.

I can take you some photos tonight at home, if I get motivated.

ive got both boats, and both brackets, and both poles hanging around the garage.

If it's an older square like the first couple of years, reinforce the crap out of the bracket area because the top deck is made out of Metton and it is VERY easy to break. When you reinforce it just grind down the part that sticks down so you can put a big piece of backing plate underneath and you will be fine with a round bracket.

The bracket mounting area on a square is angled whereas on the roundnose it is flat. If you reinforce the mounting area, you can build it up so its flatter. The pole extends up plenty in my opinion and doesnt get in the way at all when I'm wrenching. I'm guessing you could even trim the stop tabs on the bracket, but I dont think id recommend that.

k that makes sense.

so if i wanted to switch i should find a aftermarket round bracket over a stock round?

i have to build it up any way.

so do the hooks on the hood line up? or do they have to be changed too?
