I took my 650 x2 out for a min the other day and it was running very hot and dropping down to 1 cylinder for a min and picken back up... Im cleaning carbs and gonna check it after... i just put a marriner water box in it im wondering if they run hot???? Or is there a cooling line somewhere that i need to adjust to let more water run though it?

I also pulled the plugs and one of them was a little dry so im gonna finish cleaning the carbs and soak them for a while then try it again. I have checked for water in the gas and thats not it.

If you're running that motor I think you're running, it may be full of corrosion. All of those parts may be. That guy obviously didn't take very good care of that boat. If you didn't look at it before you put it together, you might want to pull off the exhaust manifold and look into ports to make sure they are clear. Or, if you're planning off pulling the head, you can check thatway instead.

Also make sure the through hulls aren't clogged. Really... anything in the system could be clogged.

Poorly tuned carbs or timing advanced too far could be an issue as well.

I don't see how that waterbox would cause it to overheat.

Dropping a cylinder could be electrical, but with it running hot and the white plug it's probably too hot. Check the compression and don't run it for more that a moment until you get that corrected. Otherwise you're going to damage the engine.
