Constant Brapping?

Why do flatwater freestyle guys always blip the throttle constantly? Can those motors not handle revving at a constant speed? Just something I've been wondering.

To keep the exhaust cleared out and ready for some brap snap, they can load up and some will are not simply not able to cruze due to the port timings and pipe hit.

To add on to this... As the motors start getting more powerful, it gets really hard to hold a slow speed with constant throttle. Even with a hair of throttle, the ski just wants to plane off and run away so the only way to keep it at a slow speed is to blip the throttle.

i find it keeps my waterbox empty and i get more brap snap when i want it for that on split second? although i am running a 701 blackjacked, pro tech pipe, with dual exahust, lighten fly, x metal waterbox.

It keeps your forearm muscles ready for the after-trick arm pump. :thewave:

Really, for that kind of speed you're typically in the transition between low speed and high speed circuits in the carbs so it's hard to keep a steady speed, so you can instead do some 'pulse width modulation' basically with the blips to keep the speed you want.

Oversized carbs and rich part throttle mixtures make the response like a switch. Ive noticed that most riders do it anyway though, even with a stock ski.

Thanks guys. It didn't make sense to me but to keep the waterbox cleared out and the transition between low speed and high speed makes perfect sense.

+1. Completely agree. I find it the easiest way to ride my ported 771 64x at lower speeds...there's no real slow speed constant RPM cruise.

you have to do the same thing with big mod 2 stroke race skis too or they just plane out and take off as soon as you get into the high speed jetting. And it sounds cool!! BRAAA braap braaap

yep ive got a dan lamey 850 with 46 novis and its hard as :):):):) to keep a constant throttle and will load up if you just try to cruise. but mostly its for the chicas haha
