Cone/prop/nozzle bore/cavitation question

I just had my nozzle bored, and I'm worried that I might pick up some cavitation. My setup:

Motor:
701, ported, 185 psi, B-pipe, MSD enhancer, lightened flywheel.

Pump:
Concord 13/15 cut back 3mm, Worx 201, Wet Wolf cone, bored nozzle.

I'm wondering whether the cone will cause an issue. Should I expect to have to go back to stock? I want to have everything with me at the lake if so. I can't seem to find my old stocker, can I steal the one off my wife's SN? (Mine's a RN.)

whats the nossle bored to?

with a WW freestyle cone and 85.5mm bore i get cavitation.. i placed stock cone on and it helped.

I am running the reduction nozzle from my old SN in my RN. They all bolt up the same but there may be a little difference in diameter depending on the type. I am not sure if there was a difference between the 650 & 701 SJs through the years. I know that my 61x stamped nozzle is 82mm and it works great with my TBM setup on my RN.

you will probably get some cavitation.

I had a 87mm nozzle, 650 engine, ww cone, and 12/15 concord, and was cavitating badly.

that was an UN finned protec nozzle though, maybe with a smaller bore nozzle, and fins, you will be ok?

I have a ported 701, B-Pipe, 195 compression, stock flywheel and stock electrics. For the pump I have:

Solas 13/17 with a 3mm cutback by Impros
Nozzle bored to 85mm by Paul.
Worx 201 intake grate.

I was worried about adding a WW cone, as I feared cavitation as you do. I asked Paul for advice, and he figured with the 85mm bored nozzle I'd be fine. Plus if it cavitated, I could just toss it on the Blaster or sell it for what I paid for it.

As usual, Paul was right. No cavitation, and a noticeable extra snap on the bottom end. $50.00 well spent.

I tried a shortened cone with a bored nozzle, killed bottom end, put stock cone back on and all is good, but I know people running both and it works, but I think it has to do with the total package (Prop pitch, HP, nozzle size etc etc)

Yes, it's a complete setup. You can go too far with any one component and hit cavitation. It's just like an engine setup, timing/compression/rpms/etc all factor in to hitting detonation or not.

Me: LPW 760/85mm nozzle/WW cone/Concord 13/16 and no cavitation.

Sounds like I might be fine. I'm going to find my stock cone (or steal Suzi's - she's out of town this weekend) just in case: that's an easy swap at the lake.

Well, I ran it today and no cavitation. In fact it felt frickin' GREAT! I'm sure the lightened flywheel was most of the gain, but I really feel the increased low end punch. Very happy....

i'm running a similar setup
wet wolf cone, 13/15 4mm, race preped
i believe an 86mm bored protect nozzle
5mm Lamey (big compression)
JD scoop and ride plate
i don't have cavitation (or at least nothing i am feeling, i also have hull extenders on too, so perhaps that is helping too, but i'm also a very heavy person

i got a c.a.t.s. setup with the shorter waveraider nozzle and have cavitation pretty bad. do you think its the wave raider nozzle doing this. is there an after market nozzle for this setup so i can keep my trim??

the nozzle won't cause cavitation. it only steers the ski.

thats what i figured...but i have all good parts and sealed well. new impeller housing, new ss concord, honed veins(no chips), freestyle cone, no boring.
Could greasing the midshaft bearing help...? maybe its doing something funny
