complete overhall/clear hood

Ok, so I'm redoing my js 440, new paint, footstraps, turf, kill lanyard, side exhaust below waterline.

But I have a questions first. I have a clear plastic hood for the ski. Should I paint this or not. And if I don't paint it, how could I get it to be clearer? It's gotten kind of a cloudy yellow tint in places. My other option would be the stock hood from an extra js 440 hull with no title. What main difference between the hoods

I'm painting the ski a dark blue/white gelcoat keeping the same basic pattern it has now. I'm going to paint the block and exhaust a blue high temp paint that maches the ski, So it'd be nice to paint the stock hood and then have the clear one to show off the motor when I wanted, but only if I can get the hood clearer.

I also plan on moving the numbers onto the pole.

One last question, I put a ride plate on it this weekend, but it doesn't fit flush against the intake grate like the stock one (see pics) Is this right?

Oh and the motors incredibly dirty too...

For the hood I would keep it like it is, even if its not perfectly clear its unique and if you paint it, its just like any ol race hood for the skis, also once painted it would be a pita to get back to clear if you or another owner wants to. You probably dont want to use that hood for any freestyle where water comes in, I believe it is made to allow the most amount of air in. I would first try some light buffing compound near the bottom of the hood and try some different grits compounds, it may just get hazier.

I guess I cant picture how your plate and intake grate fit together, but you probably dont want any sort of gaps, take of pic of them installed.
