Super Jet cdi problem

my msd went out and i bout a used oem cdi and had it put in and it works but the ski hits the rev limiter at like half throttle and it pops and back fires some. Is there a way to raise the revlimiter at all or has something been put together wrong or is the cdi shot. Thanks for the help im very angry have put alot of money in this and cant get it working.

Are you 100% sure your msd went out? Other ignition issues sometimes resemble motor hitting revlimiter. Broken plug Wire?

ya i took it too a mechanic and he was testing it with some kind of tester thing with the spark and when the engine would rev up and hit the revlimiter the msd would shut off the engine. he swaped out the old one for a new one he had and said it worked good so i bought a oem used one because i could not afford another msd and now its does not sound right
