Running up the lake last night
I saw a broken off yellow piece of a swim noodle floating
So I slowed and grabbed it with my left hand
Suddenly there was a 20 inch catfish in the tray!!:puppy_dog_eyes:
The swim noodle was being used by a local fisherman as a jug
For jugging for catfish :icon16:
There was a 4 foot line and hook connected from the noodle to the catfish
I chucked the float, and the catfish with it, and had a good laugh!

Moondance

Just plain me....
They do it on all the lakes around here. Not sure how legal it is. I used to be notorious for going around & releasing all the fish that had been caught. I'd have loved to seen the fisherman's face when all of his jugs were empty. :saevil:

These dumbasses would set jugs & then not come back to get them.

I dont fish, but
I think you need to buy a permit for so many jugs, but I am not sure
This is on a public lake in NC, about 1500 acres
It was weird to look down and have a big catfish between my feet
I wasnt so worried about the cat,
it was the multiple hooks I was looking out for!

Bahahah torpdo, that some good stuff.. 20" cat is preatty good for this lake. That would probley scare the piss out of me untill i figured out what the random floping thing that just landed in my tray was.

i'll remember not to yank up any noodles. thanks

PS: was it not ankered? couldent the fish just wonder the lake with a float above its head? how would the fishermen ever find it?

The fisherman is supposed to be keeping track of them. And I think in MO, it has to have your name and address on it too (maybe thats just trotlines?). Anyway sometimes they can get away from the fisherman, I would say that IMO thats a sign you put too many out at a time.

yep arkansas too, name and address, and COTTON or other organic line ( so that it will eventually ROT) and they have to be checked every so many hours.

Sadly, noone EVER follows those guidelines.
